January is a time of birthdays in our family. Both Bess’ and John’s birthdays are in this winter-month. We have been having loads of visitors, especially because we could celebrate Bess’ first birthday.
I decided that in stead of making a full cake in our ‘New York style’ kitchen (in other words tiny – thanks Rita, I love the expression) I was going to do something I had never tried before: buy cakes!!! We were only a small gathering so my choice fell on cupcakes from Wir Machen Cupcakes in the center of Munich. Went there with my sister to sample a couple of cupcakes and buy some to bring home.
I would recommend stopping by the shop to have a cupcake and a coffee if you are not more than 4 people. It’s super cosy! We bought Vanilla Wolke, Chocolate Decadence, Lemon Kiss and Red Velvet for the birthday. And I tried the Erdbeer (Strawberry) Küsschen while we were there. Yum Yum!
So now John’s birthday is coming up and I asked him: Would you rather go to the shop and have a couple of cupcakes or should I invest in stuff to make and decorate cupcakes and macaroons myself and make you loads. Not surprisingly he wanted me to make loads myself and I think the tiny kitchen can just manage to make small batches at a time, so I’m off to find a piping set and other decorating stuff.
