Cake stand from Amboise

Last year when I went to the Loire valley in France with a friend I bought some plates and a glass to make a cake stand like the Asian style one I made a couple of years ago.

The plates have been standing around since we moved but now I decided to make the stand and use it for the easter eggs I have made for Bess’ party.

The construction is pretty simple – stick it together with a good glue. The trick is all in the choice of plates and glass.

I used a 2 part Epoxy glue, but even though I was very careful putting it on I was always nervous that it would be poisonous if it got on the food. What I am saying is – there is no glue I would recommend as such – but I know that a 2 part epoxy will hold it. Whether you feel safe using it and if you are using your cake stand for food or not is up to you 🙂
