Down memory-lane in Wigan
July 26, 2012 in Genealogy
My mother-in-law is turning a round number tomorrow (I won’t mention which one) and I suggested that the three of us (Bess, her and I) took a drive around Ince-in-Makerfield and Wigan. John and his father thought it sounded utterly boring and decided to go play golf instead.

We went around and took some photos of the places she remembered from her childhood and youth and visited the graveyard and found her grandparent’s gravestone. We also made a stop at the Museum of Wigan life where we saw a small video clip from a documentary made in the 70s about Northern Soul at Wigan Casino. This was after she went dancing at Wigan Casino and The Monaco Ballroom in Hindley (now the Rose Club).
