This summer we went on holiday to Denmark and stayed in the summerhouse at the West coast. I did quite a bit of spindle spinnning during those two weeks – in the car, on the beach ant the BBQ. I found that it is such a social craft. It doesn’t get in the way and steal your concentration like knitting. I am able to have a good conversation while spinning. And best of all people are fascinated by the spindle twisting and turning.
While on a drive up to Ringkøbing we visited Abelines Farm. While I was there I noticed that they had loads of fibres used to show off spinning. I asked where they bought the fibres and they mentioned the nearby Uldgården in Tarm. So we had to visit this lovely yarn shop too. There I bought this 100g of rosa merino and the teal merino too.
When I got home I borrowed a Babe spinning wheel of the lovely Sue from the WSD Guild and used it to spin up both fibres in no time. Now the next step is to figure out what I am going to use 100g / c. 350m 2 ply rosa merino for. I am thinking of knitting a shawl but I’m not sure yet.
