How to sew an easy baby carrier for a doll

If you have a look around my blog you will quickly spot that I have a daughter and that my daughter has a doll called Lily. She loves her Lily and she loves to copy me and my husband. We have always carried her around in various baby carriers and she has so wanted to carry her Lily around in one of her own. So now I made her a soft carrier of her own with velcro for easy on and off.
Here’s how I did it:

image

Cut two squares at 22 x 22 cm / 8.5 x 8.5 inches.

image

Cut 4 rectangles. 2 at 12 x 30 cm / 5 x 12 inches and 2 at 12 x 40 cm / 5 x 16 inches.

image

Fold the rectangles on the long side sew along one short and one long side  turn the piece inside out.

image

Add  5 cm / 2 inches of velcro pieces on the neat end making sure that the two different sides of the velcro are each strap pair.

image

Place the straps as such with the long straps sticking out at the top and the short ones sticking out at the sides at the bottom taking care that the velcro can stick on each side. Sew the straps to the wrong side of one of the square panels.

Fold the straps in over the right side of the first panel and place the second panel on top right sides together and straps sandwiched in between. Sew around leaving a gap and being careful not to sew the straps down in the wrong place.

Turn and top stitch closing the hole.
It can now be worn with the short straps around the tummy and the long onea around the neck like in the photo above.

Or as a back/front pack.

I’d love to see your versions.
