OK I admit it – I’m not very good at drawing :-(. I once did a series of cartoons for an international conference presentation with stick people in it, just to spite my husband who didn’t have the time to draw something for me. But when I want to design knitting patterns or propose pattern ideas I need to be able to sketch out how I want it too look. So instead of getting John to help me each time (which he frankly doesn’t have time for) I decided to get him to make me a template I could fill in.
You may have noticed the above version on my Instagram feed or Facebook page of the cardigan template for the cardigan I am making out of Louise’s yarn. I for one could not have made such a clear sketch without a little help. So now I am going to share these templates with the rest of you too. Check out the one for shawls below. Each template consists of two pages. Page 1 is the template itself with space to fill in details about your design and Page 2 gives you ideas for how to use Page 1. You can try out the shawl template FREE here!
